To Kill a Mockingbird

Problem
Redesign the cover and interior of a classic novel.

Solution
The child’s handwriting on the cover emphasizes the themes of development and learning in the book. The word “Kill” in only dotted lines creates a sense of suspense in the viewer, who can imagine that soon a child is going to trace over that word and begin to learn what it means. The idea of education is replicated inside the book with the use of a transitional serif typeface, to allude to the idea of transitioning from childhood to adulthood and all that goes with it.
